Q: Do colleges verify information put in the activities section of the Common App? A: It depends!

Colleges do not have the time to verify every club that you say you participated in much less calculate the amount of hours that you should have dedicated to Model United Nation. But it will verify information when the activity is a stand-out activity like winning a National or an International competition. When a student claims that they have won such an award or have realized such an activity, colleges do verify this information. So even though, a college won't check those 40hrs you claimed you did in the debate team, they will still want you to be as truthful as possible in your college application.
